I'm liking the sound of "multiple", definitely keep the Kinect Sports series alive but, well, Viva Pinata for one is a marriage made in heaven with Kinect and I'm sure a Banjo game could work well too.
It's not ridiculous, you're just not used to seeing radical thought expressed on this site (other than radical extremist fanboy thought, but that's different!)
What I had in mind was a Wiimote / nunchuck style device with a thumbstick for movement on one and essentially a light-gun as the other, but there's any number of possible solutions, really.
But even that argument is for 10 years ago, we've moved on yet again and should now be hopin...
The real question is why have we suffered through a decade of dual analog FPS when it's ALWAYS been clear that light-gun style aiming is far superior.
For example - no-one would ever play a console port of a gunshooter with thumbstick aim, unless for some reason they don't own the gun.
Really, what do you gain from spreading such ignorance? Jutekki is on rails? Get owned.
Kinect is a device SPECIFICALLY for hardcore gamers - the possibilities that open up when you can use your whole body instead of just a few fingers are mind-boggling, and it's so sad that you thumbstick-fetishists can't see it.
I played the demo of the first one and found the controls very sloppy, however, I've also seen videos of people driving skillfully using Kinect in Forza 4, so there may yet be some ... mileage ... in the concept.
But one concept I would like to see is a race game where you drive with a traditional steering wheel and pedals, but gesture to activate ancillary controls, weapons, dashboard.. maybe lean out the window and smack people like in Road Rash.
His fellow "Kinect cheerleaders" include From Software, Harmonix, Sega, Konami, Ubisoft, Rare, Q Entertainment, Crytek, Grasshopper and Lionhead - so yeah, he's in pretty good company.
Non Kinect games this year include Forza, Alan Wake, The Witcher, Deadlight, Sine Mora, Fable Heroes, Fez and Akai Katana.
LOL AND HALO 4.
Everyone's happy!
Great stuff, should be really useful for the Olympics and Euro 2012.
Even better idea would be just make the game full body control so I can dodge punches, bounce between the ropes, kick some sweaty dude in the stomach and elbow drop his face onto a dustbin lid.
Fantastic list and it's pre E3. Hype on!
So pumped for this one, sounds like they've got a great balance of thumbstick and gesture controls and - more importantly - grafted it on to a really exciting game.
Better choice than 720. I think PlayStation is the only console to follow a 1, 2, 3 naming convention (anyone?) so it's not as if that's the norm.
I liked 'Loop' though.. and 'Super Kinect'.
His attitude is "more bang for yer bucks", rootin' tootin' throw in everything and the kitchen sink.
No. Just do one thing to perfection - Vanquish.
I'm braced for bad sales and scores.. the original Steel Battalion got them too but now it's recognised as one of the greatest of all time.
Dude, yes!
Dude!
YES!
I'll still be checking it out, Episode 1 was good and Generations' 2D bits were great.
This article reads like a press release, lol.
Anyway, Child of Eden was the killer app for 'hardcore gamers', as part of that bunch of games announced in Tokyo a few years ago, including Jutekki.
Can't wait to play this, but I doubt it's going to convert many people to Kinect. That won't happen until they have no other choice, ie, next gen.
You have some nerve calling me a troll, sitting there with your TWO bubbles while I have the number you start with on N4G precisely because I HAVEN'T LOST MINE FOR TROLLING!
When I think 'epic' and 'meaningful' I sure as heck don't think of a helpless little wiener in a red dress with no moves and no abilities, no power ups, combos, attacks or anything, running around a series of empty, linear desert stages not fighting enemies, not solving challengi...
You're basically agreeing with me you know - the game has no deep story or complex action, in other words it's a shallow experience.
It didn't reach my ankle never mind going over my head, but that's the only way anyone can defend this game: "you just didn't get it".
Oh?
By all accounts they did a great job with the most recent Tiger Woods without affecting the enjoyment of people who don't want to use motion controls so why not this game?
Kinect can contribute a lot to a lot of a genres - you have obvious ones FPS, fighting, RTS, sports, dance - but also menu navigation, voice functions and other stuff that could work in almost any game.
